Welcome to “HR the Series”

Welcome to “HR the Series,” a Webisode project that originally came from the brain of Kozi Kyles. At the time, Kozi was working for a company – which shall not be named—where employees were mysteriously vanishing. It got her mind churning as to the possibilities of where they were going, aside from the obvious: lay-offs. The idea led to a long discussion with her sister, and screenwriting partner, Kyra who worked with her to create a feature-length film out of their work war stories.

But the script –one of several the sisters masterminded—fell by the wayside during the heady days of the early 2000s, but kind of crept back in the spotlight in the last year. Watching the horrors of the economy and the job market unfurl, Kozi and Kyra decided to revisit the script, change it to a shorter, more attention deficit-friendly format and switch the people parts to puppets.

The result is what you will see in coming weeks: a labor of love made possible by an amazing cast, crew, a cool-ass studio in Wicker Park and some seriously hard work…most of which was conducted at the Starbucks on 35th and State.

We like to think of this experience as “Sesame Street” meets “X Files.”

But don’t worry, no puppets were harmed in the making of this film. And they are still living comfortably with the Kyles sisters who forgave them for some of the diva-ish demands they made on set. You’ll get to see them in action very soon. (Hint: Make sure to bookmark this page and follow us on Twitter at @hrtheseries, so you don’t miss out on the big day.) In the meantime, we will be posting contests, photo galleries, polls, news-you-can-use, and even advice about the subject we love to hate: work. Consider this – in addition to a platform for our series—your personal corporate complaint station and fun creative distraction on manic Mondays. Share, snipe, gripe. Your secrets are safe with us.
